How does one go from being the scary monster mothers warn their babies about to being a mother herself? Painfully, that’s how. At the same time, how does that mother decide to make sure her child will never have to look over her shoulder or be scared that one day her parents won’t make it home? Funny, I believe the answer is the same for either question. Although with the latter, I hope I am the one dealing out the pain instead of feeling it.
My knives are sharpened, the guns are oiled, and my teeth are filed. It is time for a throwdown and when all is said and done, we will all either be dead or wearing crowns. I won’t say I am cheering for the crowns, because my head is just too small for one, but I guess I will suffer with it over the other option.
Will I rise to the occasion and help free paranorms from their corrupted leadership? Will I earn my halo and become the super power everyone keeps talking about? Can you really potty train a one-day-old?
Who knows, but I am sure it will be an interesting trip to find out.
This is book seven in the Nyx Slaughter series. It is a companion book to the sixth book and picks up right where the sixth book left off.
“We need to make plans for how we are going to get rid of the Collective once and for all. I am hoping to have that taken care of by the end of the week.” Everything in my life these days happens quickly, so I see no reason why my request would be denied. We have already taken out one of their big lieutenants and captured a mess of their troops. I know they have thousands of others, but there has to be a way to beat them.
“We will have to see how things go. I am calling a meeting of the troops for tonight, after we all get a decent day’s sleep. There are a lot of factors to take into consideration. I expect your angel will be popping in from time to time to make sure you are doing whatever needs to be done before your birthday. If we can hold out until then, I doubt the Collective will put up much of a fight. A full-blown angel would be hard to go up against,” Sebastian says.
“I don’t even want to think about the trials. As far as I am concerned, I have gotten through life just fine without the extras I will gain from whatever they want to put me through and there are things a lot higher up on my list of priorities.” Gabe can just forget he even found me. I don’t need any special angel power to take out the head honcho over at the Collective. All I really need is for someone to tell me who my target is and I will take care of the problem.
Even after working for the Collective most of my life, the secrets of how the place was run never crossed my desk. I knew some names of high level officials, but not the full hierarchy.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to read this one yet and there are no reviews online. I will add my review as soon as I have read it.
I love books. Until recently, I kept to just reading them, but ideas for characters and scenes took control of my mind and made me have to get those ideas down. I started with a series I called Avery Clavens. I enjoyed the world I created there, but it was really still the world we all live in so I decided to move on to something just a little bit different.
In my Nyx Slaughter series, the real world is still out there, but my characters have their own little corner to call their own. I love that it is a bit more fantasy based and I am able to make more things up as I go. I can see at least three more books coming from that world with the possibility of having some different characters’ points of view.
This whole writing thing is a hobby for me. I sit down on the weeknights and weekends and just float over to my other worlds for a while. Other hobbies of mine include: drawing, baking, arts and crafts, motorcycles, hockey, and archery. I like to think I have eclectic tastes where my hobbies are concerned. I love to laugh and try to make myself smile at least once a day. With the crazy thoughts going on in my head that usually isn’t hard.
